The places of proximity are so important for our everyday life, for our well-being and overall social and economic development. Places are ecosystems that transform and improve because communities and actors converge to find solutions. Local communities are made up of many different subjects: inhabitants, third sector organizations, economic activities, public bodies and the large functions on which society is founded. All different on the inside. Collective action creates cities and territories that are more attractive, liveable for all, dynamic, sustainable.

Places are a complex social and economic production. They are the physical and immaterial result of many visions, actions, intersection of local and global phenomena and forces. The skills and resources of different worlds can connect and integrate in an extremely diversified and enriching way for all. The common, conscious and transversal civic commitment arises from the real meeting and dialogue between the parties, regarding problems and opportunities. But this process must sometimes be facilitated, accompanied, building trust, visions, coalitions, common languages and suitable tools for action.

The goal of VUC is the concrete design and implementation of urban and territorial transformative projects, promoted and supported by private and community actors. These activities can act in many areas: they improve the quality of specific public spaces and urban places / buildings, environmental sustainability, social cohesion and inclusion of even very different groups, health, educational and training offer, entrepreneurial capacity, the cultural, sporting, aggregative offer, the restoration of buildings, etc. These projects produce social and environmental impact that is real, demonstrated and communicated.
